Slender thief robs Council Oak store in David City

Early Monday morning a thief slipped through a back window at the Council Oak store in David City and took about 140 dollars. Trucks in the area hauled 6,000 bushels of wheat to Lincoln elevators, filling local storage and outpacing railroad car availability. Extra crews added 16 cars between Clay Center and McCool but Sutton branch stations received none.

Family reunion follows aunt's funeral in Schuyler

Edward Ehernberger family members gathered in Schuyler last week for funeral services for their aunt Mrs L H Rouse sister of their grandfather. It marked the first time in 33 years all siblings and relatives united since their father's death.

Rain records mark July in St Paul

Miss Anna C Anderson reports St Paul received 11.80 inches of rain in July, eight inches above normal. Through the year to date moisture exceeds 23 inches, with the annual normal near that level, per St Paul Phonograph.

Central City fund gains from weekend auction

A week earlier the Central City High School Sand fund received a $557.90 boost. The largest single contribution came from the Central City Volunteer Fire Department, which raised $349.75 at its triangle Saturday auction for the Washington trip fund.

Mrs. Hettie Marrs Carlson departed this life July 20 at age 58 years three months and 14 days. She was born in Monroe County Kentucky, married June 25, 1922 to J. A. Carlson who survives her. Midget Races Set For Osceola Saturday Night

The Polk County Fairgrounds host midget car racing Saturday night July 29 starting at 7 PM. Certified Racing Association drivers from the Midwest compete on the rebuilt Osceola track with banked turns and a 60 lap program across eight races. Local Ball Fans Take Excursion to St Louis and Chicago

Twelve men from Osceola took a weekend tour by eleven cars to St Louis to see Cards vs Red Sox and Chicago to watch Cubs vs Giants. They boarded ships on Lake Michigan and witnessed Sheldon Jones pitch a one hitter against the Cubs in the second game. The trip returned Monday morning with meals and all details arranged and a group of Omaha girls joined.

4-H Fair Highlights Dairy and Baby Beef Projects

Prospects are good for most projects to be exhibited with 4-H entries in dairy, baby beef and swine. Exhibits will include rope, garden and rabbit projects. Booths will illustrate educational themes, not just member work, and food exhibits will dominate girls work due to rising cooking and canning enrollments.
