Mrs. Ostrander Injured When Car Hits Cow on Highway
Mrs. Fred Ostrander and her son were driving cows on Highway 92 eight miles west of Osceola when an Illinois driver, Lawrence Zuckerman of Chicago, struck a cow causing injuries to Mrs. Ostrander. Frank Layton 88 longtime York county resident died Tuesday morning July 11 at his daughter Mrs Roselle Ellis Osceola after nine weeks of illness and a three year bed. Born August 23 1861 in Perry county Missouri he farmed near Bradshaw York and McCool and lived with Mrs Ellis the last three years. Surviving daughters include Sister Mary Annunciata Arcadia Mo Mrs Margaret Peters Omaha and Mrs Agnes Gentemann Topeka Kan. sons Martin Lincoln and Francis Hastings. a half sister Mrs Joe Modde Perryville Mo. a son John Layton killed in action March 17 1945 in Germany.
