Heavy Rain Drenches Polk County Amid Electrical Storm
A Monday evening storm drenched Polk County with heavy rain and a vivid electrical display. Stromsburg measured about four inches, Shelby over three and a half, Osceola about two, and Polk a little over one inch. The downpour arrived too late to save the corn crop but should aid late corn and pastures. No major damage reported though several phone lines were knocked out and a bridge washout near Raymond delayed the evening passenger train by over four hours.
