Local Boy Scouts Earn Merit Badges at Camp Word
Scoutmaster D W McFadden and four scouts visited Camp Word near Central City last Saturday July 22. Robert Hansen earned Merit Badges in Scholarship and Personal Health. James Johnston earned Personal Health. Billy Norton earned Swimming and Howard Johnson also earned the Personal Health badge. Howard Johnson and Billy Norton were named Star Scout for earning five merit badges. Six Star Scouts now in troop with two more awaiting official recognition.

Obituary of Selma Eugene Hernbloom in Osceola
Selma Eugene Hernbloom born December 15 1875 in Chicago died July 26 1939 at her Osceola home after 60 years in the county. She joined First Swedish Baptist Stromsburg later Osceola Baptist church and was known in the community. She leaves brother Emil two sisters Teckla and Pearl and nephew William Larson of Osceola plus relatives. Funeral services were held July 28 at the Hernbloom home in Osceola with Rev. Albert Monkman. interment Stromsburg Cemetery.
