Maria B. Gregory Stearly Deeter, born May 5 1866 in Lancaster Wisconsin, died July 11 1943 in Stromsburg hospital. She lived in Polk County from 1888, married John Stearly, had son Samuel J. Stearly, later married Howard Deeter, moved to Osceola, survived by husband six stepchildren sister Betty Christian brother George Gregory and two nieces. Funeral held July 14 at Kepner Funeral Home with burial in Osceola cemetery.

Funeral services were held for Rev. Louis Jansen 68 at St. Andrews parish north of Osceola after he was found dead of heart disease in his home bathroom. Bishop Louis Kucera read the mass. burial in Lincoln's Calvary cemetery. Jansen, ordained in Belgium, served five years at St. Andrews and had returned from his latest trip to Belgium.
