The Farm Journal advises burning diseased animal carcasses to prevent disease spread. For blackleg a calf carcass should be raised on a grate, covered with brush and wood, slashed, drenched with kerosene, and burned in place if possible. If movement is needed, use straw and a stone-boat, and dragging should be avoided to prevent infection. If burning is impossible, bury four feet deep with unslaked lime.
