Burning weeds and seeds discussed by Nebr. extension

Nebraska extension notes that burning fields to kill weed seeds is largely ineffective for many common weeds. Expert Loren Robison cites Colorado trials showing little control and warns that fire can trigger dormant seed germination after a fire by clearing debris and increasing soil temperature fluctuations. Emphasis is placed on safer, more effective weed control methods.
