Early Monday a blaze in a shed behind the Old Security Bank Building threatened the beauty shop and adjacent frame structure. Dr Josephine McChesnay and nightwatch Lloyd Meser alerted operators. A large crowd from Osceola joined Modern Woodmen of America and Royal Neighbors to celebrate the 50th anniversary at the American Legion Hall. Attendees enjoyed a basket dinner at 5:30, a program in the upper hall, a Lavid City Junior Girls team exhibition, seven reels of talking pictures, songs, speeches, and dancing.
