Funeral services for Oliver Edwin Mickey were held at the Methodist Church in Osceola with Masons in charge. He died Friday night after weeks of illness and was buried in Osceola cemetery. Born January 18, 1870 in Polk County he was son of former Governor John H. Mickey and a banker in Osceola. He married Bessie M. Detweiler on September 17, 1890 and is survived by widow, son Arthur B. Mickey of Laramie and other relatives.

Death summons Corpral Brown veteran hailing from Port Ann
Warren Edward Brown known as Corporal Brown was born January 20, 1841 in Port Ann New York and died January 5 1988 in Oklahoma City Oklahoma at age 91. He served in the New York infantry during the Civil War where he was wounded. A military funeral was held January 9 in Oklahoma City and he was buried there.

Women enrolled in a state extension project reported canning and drying nine tons of food this summer and fall. About 8 000 Nebraska families benefited with more than 1 250 000 jars of fruits vegetables juices and chicken and an average of 160 quarts per family. Farm Bureau Cuts Budget in Polk County Meeting
In December the Polk County Farm Bureau board trimmed the 1933 budget by 1000 dollars or about 28.5 percent and sent the plan plus the county extension agent’s annual report to the county commissioners. Four-fifths of the cut came from the agent’s salary and travel. Delegates to the Nebraska Farm Bureau Federation state convention were Petrus Nelson and Mrs. Raymond Roystrom, with alternates Glen Chase and Mrs. R L Smith attending. The county bureau set its annual meeting for January 20 in Scotts Hall, Stromsburg, with Dan Hildebrand and S F Rickard expected as principal speakers.
