Increase In Car And Truck License Fees Big Revenue Boost
The 1949 license rate increase raises thousands for county taxes in Polk. On opening day, 286 plates were sold for 2266 dollars, up from 1323 dollars with 272 licenses last year, a 943 dollar revenue gain. Rural and city allocations follow fixed shares to County General, County Road, City General, and state treasury. Polk counts about 2800 cars, 450 farm trucks and 250 commercial trucks. only 20 year old cars mostly escape the rise.
