Deb Tonniges daughter of Mr and Mrs Jerry Tonniges was named a model in the KOIL KEFM Bridal Fair fashion show in Omaha. The Osceola student at Patricia Stevens College is among 25 Models Club members and appears with other wedding planning exhibitors and discussions across the two day event February 22 and 23. Debbie, a Public Relations student, expects graduation in August.

The U S Department of Transportation rejected ten proposed extensions to the National Interstate Highway System including a Kansas to South Dakota corridor through Nebraska. Pan American Highway Association president Jack Kidder of York said Congress was told the roads would be very costly and set a precedent for future funding. New Gym Replaces Old Memories in Osceola Developments
The 1947 Osceola gym cost about 77000 dollars to build. School Board members included Kepner, Anderson, Oberg, Malek, Norton, Huston, Bush. First basketball game in the gym was November 19 1947 with a 35 33 win for the Gold enrod Conference coaches over the Red Heads. Osceola reserves won 22 20 and varsity 21 19 against Luther Academy of Wahoo. Coach Mike Shad led star players Norton Bernt Van Hoosen Girardin Ball Adams Negley Brazee Johnston Monson Gross. 1947 48 season record 2 15. first District Class C tournament in 1948. Lions Gather Historical Data at February Meeting
Thirteen Lions met at city hall on Monday noon February 24 with Wallace McKeag joining as a new member. A March 8 field trip to Osceola Cemetery will collect tombstone data for Polk County Biographical Book. The group voted a donation to the Nebraska Lions Light Conservation Foundation. New member Don Sigler presented a Bicentennial film on colonial America. President Charles Roberts and secretary-treasurer Truman Bachenberg attended a zone meeting in Fullerton on February 11.
