In Osceola on Friday afternoon a fire started when E F Potts oiling floors at the H C Beebe home overheated oil in the Beeber residence. Potts suffered facial and arm burns while Mrs Beebor quickly smothered the flames by closing doors and covering the fire with rugs.
Carl Herrmann has been assigned as district superintendent of Kandiva in India a move praised as a substantial recognition of his missionary work. The Record extends congratulations and notes local celebrations and social notices surrounding the event.
In Benluli neighborhood a one and a half story house owned by Glen Willets burned Friday afternoon. Efforts failed to save the building or contents including a piano. Insurance valued at 400 with 1300 loss estimated. Willets plans to rebuild. nearby residents report ongoing misfortunes.
The Osceola postmaster selected Grace Pheasant as deputy and Anna Ludden as clerk. They will begin duties when Mr Ludden assumes charge. Pheasant is praised for speed accuracy and uniform courtesy, while Ludden is noted for readiness to perform well.
Joe Gubser conducted a successful commission sale last Friday selling thirty head of horses and mules and other property. He plans regular sales and announces another sale scheduled one week from next Friday, March 6, inviting sellers to bring items to sell for a small commission and buyers to choose from a good collection of hearses and mules.
The case State of Nebraska vs Louis Klein is set for a hearing in Judge Campbell's court on Thursday February 26. Klein is accused of attempting to blackmail Aaron Dornan. Shelby residents Aaron Dornan and Louis Klein are the central figures with County Attorney Wilson prosecuting and Mills Beebe Wilber M Johnston Matt Miller defending.
John Colson resumes control of the Park Hotel at Stromsburg after Mrs. H. Brandhurst of Seward, who owned it since last July, steps aside. Colson previously ran the hotel years ago and is expected to serve patrons well as he returns to management.
A sale is planned at Salyer Creek on Sunday featuring aged mares and geldings, a well-broken eight year old horse, and Jersey items. Other articles will be offered alongside livestock and farm goods.
