Fire destroys St. Andrew's Church in Osceola area
A早 early Tuesday fire completely destroyed St. Andrew's Church eight miles north of Osceola. Originating in the steeple, the blaze was spotted by Mrs. Joe Bernt and fought by Shelby firefighters, but the church and its contents were a total loss. The nearby parsonage caught fire but was quickly controlled. Rev. Pekalski was away. the church, built in 1903 and recently remodeled, had no services since Sunday. No damage estimate given.

New Pastor for St. Paul’s Church
Rev. Maurice L. Swenson will become pastor of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church on April 1 after Army Air Forces chaplain service. He visited February 3 and will lead Ash Wednesday March 6 and the first Lent Sunday. Swenson served in army hospitals in Florida Tennessee and New York and trained in Georgia and Mississippi for invasion. He previously led the Fahlun Spruce Hill parish at Nelson Minnesota and studied at Augustana Seminary Rock Island. His wife Ruth M. Swenson taught in Morgan Minnesota Lake and has two children Ralph and Mary Anna. They will move to the parsonage in early April.

The bride wore white marquesette with lace neckline and long train. Her veil edged with lace hung from a corona of orange blossoms. She carried white carnations red roses and fern. A three course dinner followed at the bride parents home. The groom recently discharged from the armed forces after 38 months service including 23 overseas months.
