Nomination caucuses set for February 25 at courthouse
Voters are urged to attend the city and school caucuses Tuesday evening February 25 at 7 40 p m in the courthouse to nominate candidates for two city council seats and two school board terms. One school board term is vacant due to Dan Armbruster resignation and nominees should be town residents to balance rural representation. The county commission also is praised for flying the American flag at the courthouse every working day, a display welcomed by residents.

Osceola Bus and Pickup Collide in Fog on Highway 39
An Osceola school bus driven by Harold Jarmin and a B and B Construction Co pickup driven by Jerry Birkel collided in heavy fog about 7 30 am Tuesday on Highway 39 two miles north of Highway 92. No injuries reported to Jarmin or his lone student passenger. Birkel likely not hospitalized. The bus sustained minor damage and will continue service.

Deer Cause Collision On U S 30 In Columbus Area
At about 7 p.m. Monday February 10 a deer crossed U S 30 near Junction 81 30 causing John J. Kuta 19 of Columbus to lose control after swerving to miss the animal. His westbound car was hit broadside by an eastbound vehicle driven by Richard Alt of Duncan. Alt was treated at St Marys hospital for a fractured leg and injuries. Dana Mielak 17 of Columbus suffered chest injuries. Kuta was uninjured. The Alts stayed with their son Monday night through Thursday.
