Anderson and Kresha earn state berths in district wrestling

Osceola Bulldogs finish fourth behind Seward Concordia Friend and Stromsburg with 40 points. Bryce Anderson places second at 155 pounds after defeating Wiedrick Bennington and Lonnie Erickson Stromsburg before losing the final to Baker Seward Concordia. Kaneb to Build Major Osceola Petroleum Terminal

Kaneb announces design and construction of a large petroleum products terminal near Osceola Nebraska. The facility will store gasoline fuel oil distillates and diesel with automated additive injection and round the clock truck loading. Most products will originate from seven Kansas refineries along the Kaneb system.

Osceola High School placed second at the Goldenrod Conference Dramatics Festival in Clarks on February 11, scoring 28 points behind Palmer with 54. Osceola Bulldogs Rally To Defeat Genoa Orioles 68 50

Osceola Bulldogs beat Genoa 68 to 50 to notch their sixth conference win. Bob Gissler scored 33 points while Cal Coffin Dick Wyman and Lynn Boden added nine apiece. Fred Carnahan led the Orioles with 17 points.

District Tournament Opens Monday Evening

Coach Larry Johnson leads the Bulldog basketball team into the District Tournaments starting Monday February 22. Osceola vs Central City opens at 7 p.m. Cedar Rapids faces Fullerton at 8:30. Tuesday features Stromsburg versus Genoa at 6:30 followed by St Edward versus Greeley at 8:15. Semifinals are Thursday at 7 and 8:30 with finals at 8 p.m. Saturday February 27.

Twenty One Polk County Road Projects Planned

Polk Countians can expect significant road work over six years with 21 proposed projects. A map in this week's Record shows locations for Plans C-72 (1) through C-72 (7) of the first year involving grading culverts paving and three bridges plus traffic control signs plan (7). A hearing on February 23 will discuss the plans.

Nahrstedt to perform at Plainsman Honors Festival

Cindy Nahrstedt, flutist with the OHS band, joins about 200 Nebraska and Iowa high school musicians at Nebraska Wesleyan University for the Plainsman Honors Festival on Saturday February 20. The festival features a 90 member band conducted by Gary Nyberg, a 50 member orchestra directed by Robert Olson, and a 60 voice choir conducted by Dr. Dennis Jackson. Deputy Sheriff Jack Harrison attended a Law Enforcement School in Columbus with training officials from the FBI.

Date with Dad event for Girl Scouts in Shelby

Osceola and Shelby Girl Scouts host a Date with Dad on Sunday February 21 at the Shelby Auditorium. All troops from Brownies to Seniors attend. Special guests include Mr. and Mrs. Robert Peters of Oakland, with Mrs. Peters as Prairie Hills Council president. Younger troops perform for their fathers and Senior Scouts plan to show the film Light on the Mountain about the last Sr. Roundup.
