GOP women plan February 15 meeting in Stromsburg

Center movie projector fund reaches eighty two dollars

Jim Wunderlich of the Good Samaritan Center reports contributions from Florence Mills and Mrs Nellie Scow bring the projector fund to 82 dollars. Osceola Bulldogs wrestle through tough week and tourney

Osceola matmen, led by coach Al Stroup, split tough results with York 32 15 and placed strong third in the Goldenrod Conference Tournament at Stromsburg. John Girard earned a 2 42 pin for runner up at 98 lb, Duane Oquist won in 112 lb, and Andy Kresha upset Joe Gonnerman for a 1 39 pin in 138 lb, with several others earning medals and consolation wins.

Schulz to Compete in State Scholarship Contest

Jerome Schulz, Columbus High School senior, has been chosen by the Columbus Chapter of Professional Engineers of Nebraska to compete in the state scholarship contest. If he wins state, he could qualify for one of 20 national full tuition scholarships. Selection was made by the Education and Guidance Committee led by Ralph Moellhoff P.E.

Lutherans Gather 90 at Osceola Church Meeting

Approximately 90 men attended the Nebraska Lutheran Church men's meeting at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Osceola on Saturday February 6. The all day event opened at 8 a.m. with sessions on the theme Gods Word No 1. Speakers included Dr Reuben Swanson Omaha Nebr Synod president Rev Folmer Farstrup Omaha Rev C A Pollard Bethphage Mission Axtell and Harold F Norby Tabitha Home Lincoln. The Osceola City Council met February 4 with planning consultant Thomas Kline of Northern Natural Gas Co. He urged uniform development standards across areas and with existing structures as the panel discussed funding. Chamber of Commerce representatives were present.

County contributions approached 1200 dollars while Polk County added 1170.60. The Nebraska TB & RD total reached 192300.62 by January end. Executive Director Delmar R. Serafy expects year end March 31 totals to beat last year’s final figure. Mrs Grace Buchta moved last Saturday from Osceola to McCook Nebraska.

Three ACT Dates Left For Platte College Students

Platte College counselor Lyla Richards urged all high school and prospective college entrants to take the American College Test this year. Only three test dates remain February 20, April 24, and July 14 with registration deadlines passed for February 20 and deadlines March 22 for April and June 14 for July.

Senator Carl Curtis announced his assignment as the top minority member of the Senate Agriculture Committee Rural Development Subcommittee.
