Old Timer Train Exhibition Passes Through Polk County
A Union Pacific replica of the first Nebraska passenger train will visit Osceola at 12 05 PM on Monday February 21 for a 20 minute exhibition at the Union Pacific Station. The train includes car numbers 06 09 97 and 1 21 plus a rare wooden coach and a legacy locomotive with a funnel sock and cow catcher. Passengers will see historic sleeper cars and a nearly original internal setup with a passenger mattress and on board coffee stove. The public may inspect inside and out as time permits with a Polk County schedule showing arrivals and departures at Polk Stromsburg Osceola and Shelby.

Lucy Helen Baker born July 17 1837 in Luzerne County Pennsylvania died Feb 10 1927 at her daughter's home in Osceola Nebraska aged 89 years 6 months 23 days She was the daughter of Hiram and Matilda Baker eldest of eight children Married to Christopher C Stiles in 1863 producing four children She later married Wilson Albertson in 1891 and moved to Nebraska in 1900 She was active in the M E Church at Osceola and known for her devotion to family and charity Funeral services were held at her daughter's home conducted by Rev Handel Collier Interment in Osceola Cemetery Attendees included several Lincoln and David City residents.
