Old Veteran Henry Hughes Dies at 86 in Osceola
Henry Hughes born September 9 1840 in Boone County Kentucky died February 22 at age 86 in Osceola Nebraska after a long Civil War service and later life. He served in Kentucky Volunteers Cavalry first as private then lieutenant before illness and resignations, married Mary Jane Buits in 1867, moved to Polk County Nebraska to Osceola, and was a member of the Masonic Fraternity. Funeral at the Methodist Church is set for this afternoon with services by the Veterans of the Americas.
