Death Summons Pioneer Resident Mrs Urban of Polk County
Shelby community mourns the death of Mrs. John Urban Sr at 72. She died February 7 1934 in West Point Nebraska after a paralytic stroke. She was born Josefa Waixler in Austria August 31 1861 married John Urban Sr in 1881 they moved to America in 1898 and to Shelby in 1912. Survived by eight children Louise Pauline John F Jr Oswald Alt Rudolf and seven grandchildren. Funeral at Sacred Heart Church Shelby conducted by Rev Schlachter. Burial in Shelby Catholic Cemetery.

Fred Swanson son of Mrs Jarl Burgeson underwent an appendicitis operation at Osceola Hospital Friday evening performed by Dr Harley Eklund. Ports Beekstrom eleven year old son of Mr and Mrs Andrew Beekstrom underwent an appendicitis and intestinal obstruction surgery by Dr H S Eklund at the same hospital Sunday evening.

Methodist Church Seeks Loyalty Campaign During Lent
Our services were well attended last Sunday with strong evening turnout. The congregation considers joining the United Church Loyalty Campaign during Lent to support broader church efforts. Sunday schedule remains, including Sunday School at 10, worship at 11, and 7:30 evening service with a Young People’s Chorus. The minister speaks on Loyalty to Conscience and uses modern literature for illustration. Friday at 2:30 missionary ladies observe World’s Day of Prayer.

Survived by wife Mary Jane Adams and children Samuel Jesse Cleve Mrs A F Heckman Mrs Lizzie Kennedy Mrs Harry Kline Mrs Earl Green and Mrs Henry Frye along with fifty one grandchildren and thirty six great grandchildren. Moved from West Virginia to Polk County Iowa then Gage County Nebraska before settling in Sayre Oklahoma in 1902 where he lived until health forced move six years ago to daughter Mrs Green’s home.

The Stoner Club will hold an open meeting at the school house Friday evening next week February 23. Albert Bernt and family visited Alfred Bernt near Columbus. Virginia Bernt will move to Columbus for employment at the Willliam Gerhold home.
