The Polk County teenage crowd elected Jill Smith of Shelby as Queen of TAPS at a benefit dance last Saturday. She received 506 votes with attendants Faye Lindburg Annette Watts and Sally Norauist. Janet Kosch, 1959 TAPS Queen, crowned Smith during intermission. The event drew about 250 teens from Polk Shelby Stromsburg and Osceola and raised roughly 190 dollars for the March of Dimes.

New Post Office At Stromsburg Bid Sought For Construction
Congressman Larry Brock announces that bids are being sought to build and lease a new Stromsburg post office. Closing date is March 21, 1960. The building will replace the Main Street facility and operate under a 10 year lease with 10 year renewal options. Bids go to Ronald W. Cass in Omaha, with details supplied.
