Nebraska Safety Patrol Trooper W. W. Clark of David City spoke at Stoner School on February 7. He discussed gun safety, demonstrated equipment, and explained radio use, answering students and teachers questions.
Numerous visits and social gatherings thread through Shelby and nearby towns. Families from Seward to York share meals, concerts, school events, weddings, and farewells, including the Sterup California move and multiple hospital updates.
Stromsburg repeated as champion at the Polk County Basketball tournament in Osceola after a postponed weekend finale. Leroy Dinges of Osceola scored 28 points and went 12 for 12 on free throws in the standout game, a 54 to 52 Osceola victory over Stromsburg. Stromsburg routed Polk 74 to 46 in the final after Polk edged Stromsburg earlier in the tourney. Osceola Reserves topped Shelby 42 to 32 in the class finals. weather delayed games but revenue totaled about 800 dollars.

Nebraska officials have decided the highway along the northern route from Osceola to Omaha will retain the 30A designation. The ruling, communicated by State Engineer L N Ross, follows vigorous protests from supporters including the Highway 30A Association and the Osceola Chamber of Commerce.

Local gas appliance dealers sponsor a nationwide contest to name Mrs America, open to married 21 year olds with a personable appearance. Entries available in Osceola from three firms. Contest runs Jan 22 to Mar 30, 1955 with state finals in Florida and a two week all expense paid vacation for the winner.

University of Nebraska Concert Band will perform in Osceola on Wednesday March 6 at 8:00 p.m. at the school auditorium. Duane Johnson organized the appearance, admission is 75 cents for adults and 35 cents for students. Proceeds beyond the guarantee go to the Osceola Band fund. The visiting band will dine with the Osceola Chamber of Commerce beforehand. Local band members plan an advance sale campaign.

Methodist Church building committee says plans near final, bids expected mid March after plan release around Feb 15. Building cost estimated at about 80 000 dollars not including fixtures, salvage bids sought for old structure if price acceptable. Rev Bollinger and Ray Conrad invited to contact bidders as plans call for completion next winter.
Four Ameri can Legion posts in the county sponsor Boys and Girls County Government Day to let high school juniors elect county officers and spend a day learning county operations. The program includes a welcome, officer oath, lunch, tours of offices, and a mock trial culminating in adjournment.
The children of Mr. and Mrs. David Timm announce an open house Sunday February 13 from two to five o'clock to honor their parents 55th wedding anniversary. The observance will be at the Timm home in the east part of Stromsburg where they have lived since returning from Moline Illinois.
