James Gibbins writes he is recovering well in Florida with a better cough and eight pound gain since arrival. He notes warm but sometimes cool weather, heavy rain, ripe strawberries selling for 18 to 25 cents a quart, and Florida truck shipments including celery and cabbage. He mentions water quality, white sandy soil, few mosquitos, no alligators seen yet, and plans to return home in early April if circumstances permit.
Osceola learns Keene Ludden will be the next postmaster as B. K. Keck is named at Stromsburg and Henry Burrit at Shelby. The Record views Ludden as a creditable officer for the party and notes the long contest tied to Wilson’s rise.
Measles is reported in the city with Mrs. Roy Bates and Mrs. Wm Wolfe named as current victims. The death of Uncle William Van Hoosen occurred at 11 o'clock this morning at the Soldiers' Home at Burket. The remains will arrive here tomorrow morning.
