Three Lexington men arrived back from Bridgeport with three deer they had shot. Game Commission personnel weighed the game at 128 pounds the first deer 149 pounds the heaviest at 170 pounds.
Vance Lind of St Paul, the first local resident to own a television set, cannot receive a picture yet. He believes better reception will come with a proper antenna and aims to pioneer in television as he did in radio in its early days.
The Newman Grove Reporter reports a new patrolman assigned to town with a Caterpillar highway grader. A new three quarter ton hydraulic dump truck replaces an old twenty year old truck to keep the highway in good repair.
Mr and Mrs Harry Sinsel of Archer report their son Cleon is hospitalized in Kyoto Japan after being wounded in Korea He had a knee wound last summer and returned to active duty in early fall as noted in the Central City Republican.
Voters in Waco will decide January 2 on a proposed $65,000 school bond to fund construction of a gymnasium auditorium adjacent to the Waco school building. Ulysses Dispatch notes the vote will determine if the bonds are issued.
Union Pacific signal crew installed modern crossing lights on the main street crossing in Clarks this week. The new system replaces the old wig wag and flashes alternately as trains approach, accompanied by an alarm bell in the vicinity.
New safety feature in Silver Creek adds automatic fire alarms to every grain elevator. If a fire starts in any section, the alarm will trigger immediately, helping protect workers and facilities.
The North Platte weighing station started operations Monday with 143 trucks weighed. About 20 percent were found in violation of load limits. It is one of two stations authorized by the legislature. the other has not yet been built in Lincoln County.
The east edge plant will start operation early in January. Sewage from all town parts will flow by gravity to a pump and control house, then through plant channels before being reduced to a dried sludge suitable as fertilizer and soil filler.

Schools compete for two $5 prizes based on group distance and size, with adult chaperones registering. Christmas lights drew many entries and prizes total six dollars plus five one dollar awards. Churches staged notable Christmas programs across Osceola.
Thirty ladies from Osceola, Silver Creek, Genoa, Clarks, Havens, Duncan and Stromsburg met in Silver Creek to plan a flower show to be held in Silver Creek in late July. State headquarters issue a directive allowing men ages 18 to 26 to volunteer via local Selective Service Boards. Induction may occur immediately with the physical exam. Local boards call for two volunteers in December and have up to 20 men available for future calls. no further physical calls are planned at this time.
The high school music department under John Adams presents its annual Christmas concert at the high school auditorium this Thursday at eight o'clock. The program features the high school band girls glee club Madrigal singers and the mixed chorus.
Last Sunday evening 62 relatives gathered at Einfred Peterson home to celebrate his 50th birthday anniversary on Tuesday December 19. Attendees included the Peterson Lindblade Fisell Ericson Jones Johnson Peterson and others. Lunch followed with cake candles and a Christmas tree centerpiece as eight nieces led a birthday song. On Tuesday he received 40 birthday cards from relatives and friends.
The fiftieth anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Jones was quietly celebrated at their east Osceola home on December 20. The couple were married December 20, 1900, at the bride’s mother's farm in a ceremony by Rev. J. W. Scott, with many family members in attendance.

State Highway officers announce Polk County driver license examinations by patrolmen examiners. The regular visit occurs on the fourth Friday each month during courthouse hours. Licenses issued do not expire before September 1 1951.
Clair W. Walker, Osceola Schools superintendent, says schools close for Christmas holidays from December 22 at 2 PM to January 2. The ten day break provides vacation for faculty and students during this period.
Edward Zelazny a farmer northwest of Osceola died last Wednesday morning in Rochester Minnesota after a major surgical operation His wife four children all at home his mother Mrs Eva Zelazny of Clarks and several brothers and sisters survive Funeral services were held at 9:30 am Saturday December 16 at St Lawrence Church Silver Creek with burial in the parish cemetery
Mr and Mrs Tillman Joy escorted Mrs Milo Cochrane and her children back to Omaha on Sunday after a several day visit here.

Stromsburg rode a late surge to topple Osceola 50 43 after leading 38 37 coming into the final period. Osceola had led 25 20 at halftime following a tied 7 7 first. Osceola reserves earlier won 35 22 with game captain Jim Sterup scoring 10.
Osceola avenged two losses by overcoming Rising City 51 46 on the local maples Tuesday night. Don Gabriel scored 17 to lead Osceola with a late surge in the fourth quarter and Gregg Eklund and Ray Knight added seven each. Both CRaphenhart and Gabriel tied for scoring honors at 17. Rising City reserves were outscored 38 24.
At the Osceola Chamber of Commerce meeting on Monday night Phil Nyberg OSceola attorney was elected president for 1952. Nyberg previously served as secretary and was vice president last year Theo Hanson became vice president Otto Brabec took the expired Board seat of Martin Roberts and Robert Mills remains secretary for the ensuing term Further officer appointments will be announced at the next meeting.
