Old Santa Delights Osceola Crowd In Christmas Parade

A large Osceola gathering watched Santa Claus arrive by sleigh and pony team at the courthouse last Saturday. He handed out treats and spoke with children. Next Saturday December 23 a free two o’clock matinee at Muse Theatre will feature Adventure Island with Rory Calhoun and Waunda Fleming plus three cartoons. Schools compete for two $5 prizes based on group distance and size, with adult chaperones registering. Christmas lights drew many entries and prizes total six dollars plus five one dollar awards. Churches staged notable Christmas programs across Osceola.

Local Women’s Clubs Plan Summer Flower Show

Thirty ladies from Osceola, Silver Creek, Genoa, Clarks, Havens, Duncan and Stromsburg met in Silver Creek to plan a flower show to be held in Silver Creek in late July. State headquarters issue a directive allowing men ages 18 to 26 to volunteer via local Selective Service Boards. Induction may occur immediately with the physical exam. Local boards call for two volunteers in December and have up to 20 men available for future calls. no further physical calls are planned at this time.

Last Sunday evening 62 relatives gathered at Einfred Peterson home to celebrate his 50th birthday anniversary on Tuesday December 19. Postal receipts hit new highs as Christmas mail flows

Osceola avenged two losses by overcoming Rising City 51 46 on the local maples Tuesday night. Don Gabriel scored 17 to lead Osceola with a late surge in the fourth quarter and Gregg Eklund and Ray Knight added seven each. Both CRaphenhart and Gabriel tied for scoring honors at 17. Rising City reserves were outscored 38 24.

At the Osceola Chamber of Commerce meeting on Monday night Phil Nyberg OSceola attorney was elected president for 1952.
