Polk County Farm Bureau Holds Annual Meeting in Osceola

The Polk County Farm Bureau met Tuesday at the G A R hall for its regular annual session. A business morning and noon dinner followed by an afternoon program featured music by Swede Home Quartet reports on Girls and Boys Club Work, hog lot sanitation, a pig club demo, solos, and talks on marketing and Farm Bureau organization. Martha Brandt returned Tuesday from Norfolk where she visited her grandmother since Thanksgiving.

Emil Schott’s 74th Birthday Observed By Family

Sunday's birthday for Emil Schott was celebrated by his wife absent in Ohio and his children plus relatives including the Schott families of Joe and Louis, Mrs Henry Alt, Mrs Ed Wagner, and Henry Nebosis. Born in Alsace on December 14, 1850, he served in the Franco Prussian War and emigrated to the United States before turning 21, remaining active citizenries since.

Theodore W. Rutter born February 5 1852 in Washington County Ohio died December 15 1924 after heart trouble following an accident. He lived in Atchison County Missouri and Polk County Nebraska before settling in Osceola. He was married to Tillie L Houtz on May 12 1881 and was a member of the Christian church and Royal Highlanders. Short course in farm meats at Lincoln College

The agricultural college at Lincoln will offer a special short course in farm meats from December 29 to January 2. The program covers killing, cutting, curing, rendering lard, and sausage making. Veterans urged to file war claims soon for tuberculosis and neurasthenia

Ex service men wishing to file claims for tuberculosis or neurasthenia must undergo an examination and send two doctor affidavits to the United States Veterans Bureau before a specified deadline. Nebraska veterans may go to Omaha for examination and rating after local physician review, as district headquarters move from St. Louis to Omaha. Aged Stromsburg Resident Dies After Snow Cleanup Fall

Andrew Sundberg 82 fell twelve feet from a porch while cleaning snow and died shortly after. He was born in Ocklbo Sweden and had lived in the county over 50 years. Funeral services were held at the Swedish Mission church in Stromsburg.

1924 Football Banquet Ends Victorious Season

The 1924 Annual Football Banquet at the high school celebrated the grid warriors of O. H. Ss with Captain Hastings toasts, Laurel Lewis as captain elect, and a lively program. Women’s Club Host New Year Eve Guests

The Woman's Club guest day is set for December 31 at 2 30 in the M E church basement with each member allowed a guest. The Monday Night Club will meet New Year’s Eve instead of the first Monday.
