Obituary: James L. Webster North Bend Publisher Dies

James L. Webster owner and publisher of this newspaper died suddenly at his North Bend home at 48. He leaves a wife two sons and a daughter. He had purchased the North Bend Eagle four years ago. Voters approved a gas rate increase by a slim margin of about forty votes. Three councilmen who opposed the rise may not follow the voters.

Cattle drown after breaking through ice on Blair farm pond

Ten head of cattle including four cows three heifers two steers and a registered bull drowned when they broke through the ice on a pond at the Earl J Thompson farm south of Blair Monday. The pond ten feet deep was built to slow creek flow and prevent drowning. Loss estimated around 1500 dollars.

New Hospital Turned Over To Polk County This Week

The Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Hospital was officially accepted by Polk County after a final room by room inspection led by Thomas Leuhr of Davis and Wilson. Minor finish work remains and equipment installation is next, with a planned late February opening ceremony once fully equipped and operating rules are set.

Grade School Operetta Planned in Osceola

The grade school in Osceola will stage an annual two act operetta on Tuesday December 20 at 8 09 p m in the auditorium.
