Osceola Family Hurts In Iowa Car Crash Near Hampton

While returning from a weekend with relatives in Mason City Iowa C M Humphrey and party were in an auto crash on Highway 65 near a hill bottom. Mrs Humphrey Helen Florence and Jean suffered internal pelvic hip and head injuries while children were spared. The Hoyt couple from Wells Minnesota also went to Hampton hospital with bruises and cuts.

Many Odd Fellows Attend Meeting in Osceola

More than 150 Odd Fellows from the region gathered in Osceola to attend a lodge meeting. Grand Master Roy Butler from Gering and other officials including E. S. Davis North Platte Grand Secy and W. J. Kelly Grand Instructor joined Rev. W. D. Hamilton Osceola Grand Chaplain in addresses. A 6:30 banquet preceded a program of speaking and singing at the Methodist church, followed by the Junior Degree team demonstration at the lodge hall.

Organized Agriculture Meeting Planned at Nebraska College

Plans are completed for the annual Organized Agriculture meetings to be held at the Nebraska College of Agriculture December 6 through 10. Printed programs are available in Osceola at the Farm Bureau office. Delegates from Polk County include J. E. Renner of Stromsburg and Mrs. Arvid Peterson of Osceola with alternates Art Deeter of Osceola and Mrs. Rex Brigham of Shelby.

Patrolmen to Conduct Driver Examinations In December

December dates set for state patrol examinations by a patrolman at the Osceola courthouse. Applicants failing to qualify by December 1 may take tests on December 8 and 21 with Sundays and holidays excluded. A $1 license fee applies to all applicants after December 1.

Elsie Gillbank Chapman Dies at 39 in Nebraska

Elsie Gillbank Chapman born February 15 1898 in Shelby died November 27 1937 at her home near Gresham aged 39. She joined the Methodist Church young and was active. She married Milo Chapman of Osceola February 4 1919 and lived mostly in Nebraska. She left husband father two sisters and a brother. Funeral services were held at the Kepner Funeral home Monday afternoon with Rev Albrecht presiding.

Will Backlund Polk County Pioneer Dies in Stromsburg

Will Backlund a Polk County pioneer aged 78 died at his Stromsburg home after several weeks illness. Funeral services were held Monday at 10 a.m. from his home and the Baptist church with Rev. Gust Carlson presiding. He was born in Illinois moved to Polk County at thirteen and farmed between Stromsburg and Osceola. Survived by wife, three sons Theodore Albin of Burlington Colorado and Victor of Omaha, a daughter Mrs E C Swanson of Stromsburg. Numerous local social notes follow about visits, Thanksgiving activities, and club meetings in Stromsburg York and vicinity.

Charles Wright 78 of the Odd Fellows home died Tuesday morning in the state facility. Born in Baltimore Maryland he came to this state years ago and joined the Shelby lodge before entering the home. Lutheran Ladies Aid Christmas Meeting Preview

The Ladies Aid at the Lutheran Church is to be entertained by Mrs Bard and Mrs Hedlund with program leader Mrs Elmer Johnson on Thursday December 2 at 2 00 pm for a Christmas meeting. Sunday School and Bible class begin at 10 00 with no worship service and a 730 vesper service led by the Luther League.
