Obituary: Joseph Hedman Dies After Four Months Illness
Joseph Hedman died Monday morning August 25 at age 44 after about four months of illness from a fall that caused a broken back. He never regained feeling below the hips, was casted at a hospital, sent home after ten days, and died as his digestive and heart failed. Born in the county west of Stromsburg, he lived on a farm before moving to town fifteen years ago and was well liked. He leaves a wife, one daughter of seven, his mother and stepfather, and two brothers Dave and Ernest. The funeral will be held today at the home and Swedish Mission church.

Bond Family Reunion Brings Kin From Osceola Hackberry and Gresham

Polk Man Injured Seriously in Auto Accident
Polk County news reports Melvin Johnson son of Mr and Mrs Joe Johnson suffered a compound fracture to his left leg and right arm when struck by a high speed Ford sedan driven by Morris Lindburg near midnight Monday night half a mile north of Polk at the Ed Benson farm. Lindburg swerved into the ditch to avoid collision and later learned of Johnsons injuries. A physician in Polk treated him. The Polk Progress cites high speed and bright headlights as factors in the crash.

Polk celebrated its 18th anniversary with a full day event starting with a 9 30 band concert and continuing with an industrial and comic parade. E S Placek and J N Norton spoke in the morning, a second band concert followed after dinner, and a 15 to 2 ball game pitted York Bearcats against Pork Al Stars. An estimated 2 000 residents attended with a five o clock water fight and a final band concert at eight. Cash prizes rewarded the best industrial floats comic displays and children in costume.

Dawes Day In Nebraska Set With Concert And Parade
