County Board Sets Annual Tax Levy For County Funds
County commissioners met in session to set the annual tax levies for the General Fund Special Bridge Court House Interest and Pond levy and County Fair levy matching last year. Two added levies for Soldiers Relief and Mothers Pension will raise about $2 600. An emergency relief levy of 4-10 of a mill is authorized to secure federal unemployment aid.

Osceola Church Social Raises 25.80. Plans For Exhibit
A large crowd attended the Wesley Chapel ice cream social with proceeds of 25.80. The church Aid thanks the Osceola Community Club and helpers. Members and friends meet Friday to plan the county fair agricultural exhibit. Various local families and visitors sent regards, with Frank McBeth undergoing goitre surgery in Omaha. The Hen ry Johnson funeral drew many in tribute to her faith and work. The Burns reunion gathered relatives at Pawnee Park with attendees from North Dakota and Lincoln.

Fire destroys car and garage at Rosedahl farm
A Chrysler sedan and the garage housing it were completely destroyed by fire early Monday at the J. G. Rosedahl farm southeast of Osceola. Mrs. Rosedahl awakened by a barking dog discovered the flames. an attempt to move the car failed.

Government to Buy Cattle in Osceola on Monday
Polk County plans outline government purchase of cattle in Osceola on Monday August 27. Farmers wishing to sell must list cattle with a precinct committeeman or at the county agents office by Friday. Farmers may cooperate with the agricultural adjustment administration but not promise to reduce to ten units. Earlier sales show 163 head at Silver Creek and 158 at Polk.

Stoner Club Picnic Brings Local Fun at Buckley Park
