Osceola Chapter No 24 celebrated its 50th anniversary on Tuesday August 14 with a 6 30 picnic in the I C O F hall basement. Visitors came from Shelby Stromsburg and Silver Creek. Activities echoed the 50 year ago format with costumes and letters read from absent members including Inez Burns who has 47 years of membership. Members E A Walrath C A Olson and G T Ray have 35 years. Melissa Sturgevant now of Lincoln attended and all enjoyed a pleasant evening.

Tourists in Accident Near Osceola on Highway 16
A Kentucky party of four in a Studebaker veered into a ditch on Highway 16 ten miles west of town. E J Wotawa and his mother Mrs Jacob Wotawa were injured, Mrs Hermansky suffered a broken wrist, Mildred Hermansky uninjured. They were en route home from Colorado. Dr Schroeder treated them at Osceola hospital.

Rev. Adam John Wurst born March 24 1876 in Prevorst Württemberg Germany died August 7 1934 at Lutheran Hospital York aged 58 years 4 months 14 days. John Emil Anderson born September 25 1863 in Molla Elfsborg Sweden died August 10 1934 at his home near Swede Home Nebraska aged 70 years 10 months 16 days. He came to Essex Iowa in 1882 then Polk County in 1883 was a Swede Home Lutheran Church trustee married Ida Johnson March 29 1889 and had daughter Florence. Survived by wife daughter Mrs Arvid Branting of North Platte four step children and many relatives. Funeral services were held yesterday at Swede Home with Rev Sarow presiding.
