Four Nights of Entertainments at Polk County Fair

Four nightly programs promised at the Polk County Fair include a Wayland Church home talent comedy Safety First on Tuesday, Dott y and Daisy by Epworth League of Stromsburg on Wednesday, Polk youths staged by Mrs Grayce Stevens Hahn on Thursday, and a Shelby Catholic Church home talent play on Friday. Band music, vaudeville by the Seven Spies Sisters, a platform dance and midway carnival are featured nightly with free gate after 6 PM.

Sunday School Picnic and Church Schedule This Week

The program starts with a Sunday School picnic Thursday at four p m in the park with food cups and spoons. Committees to handle details and contests for the youth are arranged. Next Sunday church plans include Sunday School at 10 worship at 11 with a special service featuring Elton Berck and the pastor. An evening service is set for 8 at Kunkel School House No 48. The W C T U meets Thursday afternoon in the church basement.

Polk County Fair Baseball Tournament Schedule

Osceola Stromsburg Polk and Shelby will play a three day tournament at the Polk County Fair diamond. The Wednesday opener has Stromsburg facing Shelby, Thursday features Polk vs Osceola, and Friday decides the Polk County Fair Champions. A girls kitten ball series and a country boys minor baseball tournament are scheduled for morning games.

Kerr Canning Contest Eligible for County and State Prizes

Kerr Canning contest invites Polk county extension project members who enrolled last year to compete. County winners receive one dozen quarts. state winners get travel expenses to Organized Agriculture and cash prizes for lower places. Counties must hold a preliminary contest with at least ten entrants. exhibits for the state fair include one jar each of fruit vegetables and meat. only county first prize winners advance.
