Nebraska fans celebrate two days of big car auto racing at the State Fair in Lincoln from September 3 to September 8. The Roaring Road opens the program on Sunday September 3 with a return race Thursday September 7. Stock car racing of 1946 to 1950 models closes the week on Friday September 8 featuring Deb Snyder and the Offenhauser winner of the Midwest Championships.

Hot Rod Races At Osceola Sunday
The Fair Board will sponsor a free hot rod race Sunday afternoon in Osceola to fulfill a prior promise not kept by a former promoter. York track manager will oversee the event, with the same group handling Tuesday night racing as part of the fair program. Attendance is invited with no charge at gate or grandstand.

Osceola won 8 to 7 over Silver Creek after a seventh inning rally and costly walks in the final frame. Silver Creek built a 5 run lead in the second. Osceola tied the game in the ninth as pitchers faltered and walks mounted. Toline pitched six innings and Swanson finished.

The Swanson reunion picnic gathered 41 attendees plus 6 guests at Buckley Park on August 13 1950. Local families from Stanton Osceola Lincoln Central City and Polk attended a chicken dinner then ice cream and cake. The 1951 committee includes Frances Carlstrom Ramona Johnson and Betty Swanson. The Polk County Fair Board completed plans for the annual County Fair at Osceola Fairgrounds starting next Monday through Wednesday.
