Roses Win Big At Fortnightly Flower Show
Mrs. J. W. Carter sent choice roses to North Loup for the Fortnightly Flower show. The entries won three first prizes, one second, plus a prize for flowers flown the farthest distance. The event is an annual Silver Creek Land affair. Joseph E. Larson, local inventor with six U. S. patents on farm machinery, created a lawn decoration model of a Central City farm pictured in a Long Beach paper. Larson spent weeks on the model which Mrs. Jessie E. DeForest saw, liked, and took to California.

Rites Held in Colorado for Former Resident Emma Burnett
Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Burnett were conducted at 2 PM on July 22 in Poncha Springs. The Rev. Rowland Hill officiated with pallbearers Fred Montgomery Emmet Schewalter Harold Woods Ed O’Hara John Post and Ted O’Hara. Interment followed in the Poncha Springs family plot. Burnett born March 27 1878 in Osceola Nebraska was an art instructor at Colorado A and M College Fort Collins. She married J A Burnett October 16 1910 and lived on a ranch at Poncha Springs. Surviving children include Mrs. Howard Caviness Salida Colo Mrs. George Smith Poncha Springs and Mrs. Neils Jorgensen Clovis California. She leaves two sisters Mrs. B F Williams Fort Collins and Mrs. C V Nelson Waynesburg Pennsylvania and two brothers Oliver Westberg Stromsburg Nebraska and David Westberg Los Gatos California along with several nieces and nephews. Relatives attending included sister Mrs. Williams and husband from Fort Collins and niece Alllegra Johnson of Stromsburg Nebraska. Her daughter Mrs. Jorgensen of Clovis California had visited but could not attend. Burnett was a 50 year member of Topaz Chapter No. 27 Order of the Eastern Star and long associated with the Columbine cab.

Ted White 37 son of Mrs Bella White of Silver Creek was killed in an accident near Wrightwood California on Sunday morning. He grew up near Silver Creek and lived in Osceola after marriage before working a caterpillar tractor in Panama and California. Surviving wife Marie and daughters Shirley Ann Lincoln and Sherrie Lee of Wrightwood, mother, two sisters and two brothers. Funeral held at Fleming Funeral Home with Rev Beebe Creighton officiating.

Osceola School will open Monday September 4 according to superintendent Clair W Walker. Louis Tschauner Dies at Kearney
Mrs. Albert Timm and Mrs. Lawrence Twarling of Stromsburg traveled to Kearney after word of Louis Tschauner death. The 66 year old former Osceola resident worked as a carpenter with his brother Frank Tschauner before moving to Kearney 35 years ago. Timm and Twarling attended the funeral on Sunday and returned that evening.
