Polk County Fair Opens Next Monday At Osceola
Polk County's sixtieth annual fair begins Monday in Osceola with a Rodeo on Tuesday and Wednesday plus ball games horse racing free acts and a novelty auto race featuring 1929 and earlier cars. Admission is 25 cents and autos park free. Eight new Osceola teachers join the staff including four high school instructors and two in the grades.

4 H Demonstration Day Draws County Teams
Fifteen 4 H demonstration teams from 330 4 H club members attended a practice day last Friday August 11 at the County Court House. Miss Jesse Green and Mr Ross Miller from the Agricultural College Extension Service offered tips for better demonstrations. On August 19 the county wide competition replaces the fair week event with displays from 9 A M all day in the County Court Room. Judging by Mrs Bernard Wischmier and Mrs Gilford Bryan for Home Economics and Bernard Wischmier for Farm demonstrations. Schedules available at the County Agent's Osceola office.

Nelson Macksprang nuptials in Stromsburg home ceremony
Miss Arlene Nelson daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Nelson of Stromsburg married Ralph Mackprang of Osceola at the couple’s home Sunday afternoon. Rev Gust Carlson officiated with Claudia Tschauner as bridesmaid and Arthur Rasmus as best man. The couple will reside in Osceola after a Park hotel reception and trip.

Polk County Outlaws Form New Independent Ball Club
A Polk County group dubbed the Polk County Outlaws organized a new independent baseball team. They debuted last Sunday at Bellwood, losing 3 to 2 after eleven innings in a well played contest. Captain Albert Timm leads a roster that includes Everett Anderson Sap Taddiken Ira Irland Mim Peterson Crackers Taddiken and others. The team plans several games for the season.

New Nebraska Speed Law Takes Effect September 8
The Nebraska speed limit increases set a maximum of 60 mph for daylight driving and 50 mph for night driving. State highway patrolmen will enforce the new limit starting on September 8, after passing through the recent legislative session.

Nine stops include farms of Johnson Anderson Hedlund Bard Herrman Berck and Rhodes with demonstrations on contouring farming electric fences and forage harvesting. Dr. Davis H. Westfall Dies In Polk Nebraska
Obituary for Dr. Davis H. Westfall born February 3 1874 in Dodge Nebraska. He practiced medicine in Lindsay and Polk Nebraska where he served as Polk’s first Mayor and on the Village Board. He died August 12 1939 at his home after months of ill health. Burial followed at Arborville Cemetery with funeral arrangements by Brauer Funeral Home.
