Hail and Wind Do Major Damage to Polk County Farms
A severe hail storm last Friday battered Polk County farms near Osceola. Barns were destroyed, livestock killed, crops ruined, and several buildings damaged. Affected areas include Frank Westerdale’s farm, Henry Kinsberg’s barn, Albert W. Larson’s stock farm, Dan Magnusen’s barn, and John C. Carlson’s farm, with widespread power and telecommunication outages. The storm caused extensive economic losses and left the county in darkness for portions of the night.

Silver Creek plans its third annual Bridge Day with two fastball games Clarks versus Duncan on Friday and Osceola versus Genoa on Saturday. The event includes races, a free moving picture show, two dances nightly led by Gordon Neligh and his orchestra, and a carnival with shows and rides.
