The White Way or No 16 in Polk County will be graded and graveled with bids advertised to start by September and finish by December. The project aims to improve interstate traffic access, creating an east west outlet from the county center while Meridian North work proceeds, benefiting Polk County residents.
LeRoy Pointer of Shelby preached at Wesley Chapel with Rev Shaub at Epworth Assembly. Alonzo Merrick to fill the pulpit next Sunday. A Foreign Missionary Society birthday meeting is planned for Aug 11 at Jessie Hewitt’s home. Members to bring an amount equal to their mother's last birthday.

John Lees, veteran Polk County farmer and former county treasurer from 1914 to 1918, was chosen to fill the north east district vacancy on the county board of commissioners. The appointment was made by County Clerk Fillman, County Treasurer Cornish, and County Attorney Stanton after the death of Aaron Dornan.
Walter Theodore Kresha the infant son of Mr and Mrs Adolph Kresha of Osceola died at St Marys hospital Saturday afternoon at 2 oclock after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Sunday at St Andrews church with Fr Welk officiating and burial in the local cemetery. Pallbearers were four cousins Andrew Kropatch Clarence Kropatch Leonard Kropatch and Walter Berant. He is survived by his parents three brothers including a twin Arthur two sisters and nine half brothers and half sisters.
Pole E S Larson reports 50 thousand bushels of wheat shipped from Ogallala Friday and Keith County expected 3 million bushels. Rev McCutcheon family depart for Ohio and Indiana for a month via Chevrolet route. Dr Westfall family head to Polson Montana for an outing and to visit relatives. Arthur Hokenson and mother return from three weeks in Minnesota Wisconsin and Beaver Iowa. Mrs Fitzgerald from Haxtun Colorado visits sister Mrs Wagoner. formerly Miss Mabel Crain. Lloyd Cole family and Cordes and Charles Lindberg leave for a two week Western Nebraska visit.
Lev Kresha drove to Lincoln Saturday afternoon after completing repairs for his thrashing machine. Maxine came home following a two week visit with her aunt at the same place.
Shelby C W Moon returned from Chicago with a substantial store purchase. Mr and Mrs Chas Hastert came back from Iowa vacation. Henry Baurer of Tracy Minn returned after years away. Lloyd Myers and wife returned from a four week tour of the west coast and Canada. A hail storm caused corn damage while Henry Jauch dislocated his shoulder. Mrs W H Kelley came home from Lincoln hospital. Bachman family visited Creston. Owen McClung Glatter and Erwin Taddiken played with Madison at Creston. Lott Bull and wife returned from California and moved into John Houderscheldt’s house. Seberger brothers toured Kimball. Wm Swan of Beatrice visited Shelby. Peter and Henry Beringer visited Louis Hastert. Jack Rathburn visited on business. John Lees appointed county commissioner replacing Aaron Dornan. Lees formerly long-time county treasurer. W H Kelley leased space for a cream station. Shelby now has five cream stations.
Genevieve Fredrickson daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred Fredrickson married Axel Anderson son of Mr and Mrs Dave Anderson at four o clock Sunday afternoon in Swede Home Church Rev Sword officiated A reception and dinner followed at the Fred Erickson home The couple departed Sunday evening for Omaha and Lincoln and will reside on a farm near Swede Home
State engineer Roy Cochran announces bids for a new bridge over the Platte River south of Duncan. Construction to start by Sept 15 and finish before July 1, 1928, with funding shared by Platte and Polk counties and the state. Bids due Sept 1 and will be opened at the County Clerk’s office. Plans show two bridge options: nine spans of 100 feet or 18 spans of 50 feet, 20 foot roadway, concrete floor.
De and Paul Fratt of Omaha renew acquaintances in the area Friday. Mrs. Betty Christian travels from Kansas to spend the weekend with friends prior to Minneapolis departure. Various local residents host or visit relatives in nearby communities, with trips to Kimball Gothenburg Riverside Park Central City Seward Denver Clarks and Cozad noted.
