Nebraska Heritage Tour to Shelby in Bicentennial Year
The University of Nebraska at Omaha Touring Company presents Nebraska Heritage Out Of The Earthy Dusk in Shelby at the high school gym on Sunday May 4 at 7 p m. The self contained production sketches Nebraska history from pre history to present with a crossroad setting and patchwork costumes. Cast includes Steve Anderson Lynn Broderick Dan Gleason Jean Guinan Bill Hladik and others. Tickets 75 cents for students and 1 50 for adults. Proceeds support Polk County area churches and communities.

In a game management area near Kearney, hunters killed more than 15,000 waterfowl. Officials are unsure if brief contact with diseased ducks and geese could infect whooping cranes.

American Legion Auxiliary Tea Honors Members and Guests
The Children and Youth Tea of the American Legion Auxiliary William Wolfe Post 91 was held in the clubroom Monday afternoon April 21. Eighty women attended a display of 265 clothing and bedding items made from donated scraps by Auxiliary members and volunteers. Mrs Allan Kresha introduced Nebraska Department president Miriam Kirchhofer of Sutton and District 7 president Henrietta Hubenka of Leigh.

Bicentennial Art Show Planned With Cash Prizes
The Bicentennial committee sponsors an art show for all ages on Saturday May 31 with two and three dimensional works and miscellaneous items like needle work and shadow boxes. Entries must be original and compete in three age categories. Winning pieces will appear at the Polk Co Fair alongside other town winners. Spring Opening At Ryan Hill Sunday
Ryan Hill Country Club held its official spring opening on Sunday April 20 with golfing the dedication of a new golf shed a pot barbecue supper and a dance. Over 60 golfers played and 21 couples took part in the two ball foursome with Bonnie Nelson and Kenny Pope winning first and Mary Lou Perry and Dean Buffington second. More than 200 members attended the supper in the new facilities followed by dancing.

Byrd to speak at Nebraska Jefferson-Jackson Dinner
