A cheerful wedding took place Wednesday April 14 at J A Olson home 42 Beech St. Miss Alice J Olson married Albin J Mollerstrom of Stromsburg with Rev Johnson officiating. Relatives and a few friends attended the ceremony followed by a three course luncheon. The bride, a Luther College graduate and stenographer, and the groom, respected local farmer, will reside near Stromsburg after May 15. Out of town guests included Leonard Backlund Jean Backlund and Ernest Mollerstrom of Stromsburg among others.
A father writes of his fifty years married in Wooler England and their long move to Nebraska. He recalls crossing the sea to America, settling in Madison Indiana then Illinois, and finally making a prairie home in Nebraska with faith and family as anchors. A near cyclone yesterday afternoon roared through Arborville with roving northeasterly winds causing widespread destruction. Two injured residents, a woman and a child, survived as homes and barns including Clark Stonster’s barn and the Ray Smith house were demolished or ruined. Axel G. Jones suffered extensive losses with all structures except the house and a corncrib destroyed. Widespread downed power lines and wind mills, plus rain and hail, followed as Polk County reported no fatalities.
Rev. Matthew Herrmann district superintendent will lead a quarterly conference and preaching service at 2 p m Saturday at Grace M E Church. An important business meeting will follow and it is urged that official board members attend.
