Polk County Board of Commissioners met April 19 1920 in Osceola Nebraska with AJ son and O F Branting present. Claims were approved for General Fund Poor Fund Special Bridge Fund General Road Fund Road District No 8 Dragging Fund itemizing payments to multiple local businesses and officials. meeting adjourned to May 4 1920.
P. Heald, renowned court reporter for years in this judicial district, has left Osceola for Trenton Nebraska to become president of The Citizens State Bank. Heald, son of J Heald, has served with the highest accuracy and will start his duties this week. The Record notes the town gains a strong bank and Heald’s family moves to a new home.

Their future home will be on the groom’s father’s farm with a Columbus residence to be claimed after possession. Local election board members named include Ed Clobes J H Lockard F M Shelmadine Herman Benda and Arthur Shay. Community well wishes noted.
Hog market activity noted for Liberty C M Dilsaver area. Families including the Larsons Hurds Knorrs Graves Hollister and Gables clans enjoyed Sunday meals. The Ladies Aid plans a May 6 meeting with Mrs. Kries. Inez Kessler nurses Mrs. Nelson at the George Anderson home. Katherine Brooke reelected for Liberty School. Emma Baker to teach at Victor. Seed corn for sale $2.75 to $3.00 per bushel by Adolph Bernt north of Shelby.
Mrs. C. M. Dillsaver hosts the Ladies Aid today. C. W. Hennings shipped two cars of stock to Omaha Tuesday. Mrs. J. E. Renner catered the Junior-Senior banquet at Osceola last Friday. The L. W.'s gathered at the Jas. McKeag home last Saturday for a social. rain limited attendance to about twenty. Dainty refreshments were provided by the hostess. Lee Campbell sent stock to Omaha late in the week. While he was away, Mrs. Campbell and children stayed with Richard Peterson. Mr. and Mrs. J. Renner visited their daughter Mrs. H. Mills in Osceola over the weekend. The X. L. Class of Greens Chapel held its regular meeting and elected officers at Glenn Severine’s home. ice cream, cake and apples followed. Officers include BE. C. Mouden president, Mrs. I. EB. Steever vice president, BE. R. Dillsaver secretary treasurer, and pianist Mrs. Glen Severine. Mrs. Chauner of Boseman Mont arrived late week to visit daughter Mrs. Lawrence Twarling. Tuesday the women exercised the right of franchise. A large number participated. Also: spring cleaning aids from Crouse-Tex Drug Co.
Stephen Merrick died after a short illness in Snohomish following a dinner prior to leaving home. He was born August 4 1850 in Meaford Ontario and settled near Osceola Polk County in 1874. Surviving are his widow six children two daughters predeceased him five brothers and six grandchildren. He was an active Methodist Episcopal church and Sunday school worker in Polk County.

Schwab family welcomes a 9 pound son in San Francisco. Reisdorff buys the bowling alley and adds a pool room. E G Johnson leaves town for Stromsburg Headlight.
Judge Ball issued licenses to Lewis A. Harrington of Lincoln and Alberta May Iler of Shelby. The couple names appear in the week’s civil records indicating lawful marriage eligibility.
Primary results show Westring the Republican with Hackberry 69 East Stromsburg 128 and West Stromsburg 127 total for Hackberry statewide. Democrat candidate Jacobson scores 48 at Hackberry 117 at East Stromsburg 78 at West Stromsburg for a district total.
