Verl E. Leach dies at 60 in Stromsburg
Verl E. Leach 60 of Stromsburg died after a months long illness Saturday at Annie Jeffrey Memorial Hospital. He farmed near Osceola and was a Pioneer Hybrid Seed Corn salesman. Survived by wife a son Norman and daughter Mrs Don Fellows of Waco. Funeral services held Tuesday at the Methodist Church Stromsburg with burial in Stromsburg Cemetery.

Morris Breaks School Record In Discus At David City
Roger Morris set a new school discus record with 128 feet 1.75 inches last Wednesday at David City, winning by three and three fourths inches over the previous mark. Kenny Kropatsch tied for first in pole vault at 9 feet 6 inches as David City won 96 to 23. Osceola placings include Miller second in the 880, Johnston tied third in the 440, Wieseman second in the 220, Cotter second in the mile, and Dinges second in shot put. Morris led discus, Dinges third in the event, and Kropatsch tied for first in pole vault. Saturday at the Columbus Invitational two Osceola runners placed in class C and D brackets Morris third in discus and Wieseman fourth in the 100 yard dash.
