Hog Theft Sentences Man To Year In Prison
Keith Green of near Polk pleaded guilty to hog stealing in district court and was sentenced to one year at hard labor by Judge Hastings. He allegedly stole 13 hogs from Elmer Hanquist and sold them at a York sale last week. Roland Winters of Benedict was fined $25 and costs and had his license revoked for a year after a fatal April 2 accident in Osceola that killed Eleanor Koeller.

New 4-H clubs organize this spring in Polk County focusing on dairy poultry and baby beef projects. Church Aid meeting moved to April 21
The Wesley Chanel Church Aid group announces a postponement of its meeting to April 21. The Missionary Society will still meet at the church this Thursday. A full house enjoyed Friday’s community program in District 40, mainly presented by district adults. Bert Smith remains busy with the assessor’s work at present. Mr and Mrs Alvin Weeden and daughter and Mrs Minnie Weeden of Osceola were Sunday guests at the Arvid Peterson home west of Osceola. Relatives and friends aided Mr and Mrs John Gabel in celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary Tuesday evening. Mrs J N Jarmin has been ill but is improving. Birdie Weeden hosted Elaine Treadway Maxine and Adeline Pettys at a birthday lunch last week. Edward Sarrow and family of Silver Creek visited Mrs Wm Hanshew Sunday, and they later called on Emmett Beebe in Shelby. Harry Bartholomew of Columbus was a weekend guest at the William Brandt home. Ed Jarmin of Lincoln attended to farming interests in the area this past week.

Shelby Hospital Brings Several Recoveries And Visits
Mrs Henry Kumpf has largely recovered from an operation at Shelby hospital and may return home Friday. Mrs Alsis Kosch also underwent surgery there and is reported to be improving. Arch ie Kumpf had an appendectomy performed by Dr Brillhart with Dr Losgacre assisting and is doing well. Out-of-town visitors including Mr and Mrs John Rasp and relatives from Moorefield and Gresham attended. The post office walls are being repainted this week.
