Osceola Senior Dies After Auto Crash Near Stromsburg

Eleanor Koehler 17, Osceola High School senior, died after a car driven by a youth fell asleep and ran into a ditch three miles north of Stromsburg on highway 81. Passengers included Viola Johnson Evelyn Cook Tom Winters and Rolon Renquest. Renquest was treated at a York hospital. funeral held at First Methodist Church Osceola with high school Girl's Club singing.

Mrs H Christense n prominent in Stromsburg clubs dies

Mrs Frances Christensen, born April 18 1891 in Dannebrog, died after a major operation at Lutheran Hospital in York. Survived by husband H Christensen and four sons Richard Kenneth Robert and Jack. She led Eastern Star activities and community groups in Stromsburg. Funeral held at her home with local clergy officiating.

Doris Rystrom Crowned Polk County Spelling Champion

The Polk County Rural School Spelling Contest at Osceola drew 24 schools and 42 contestants. Doris Rystrom District 84 won the written division, Henry Buresh District 56 led the oral, and Rystrom prevailed in the final to become county champion.

Miss Marie Jane Robertson of Omaha and H Ervin Deeter of Osceola will marry April 15 at 3 30 PM in Omaha First Baptist Church. Election Results Show Narrow Turnout in Two Wards

Tuesday’s election drew just over 150 votes in each ward with no opposition for councilmen and police magistrate. George Carson and M R Anderson won in wards one and two, Allan Cummings was police magistrate, and Dr LeMar C Albin Anderson and George Craven won the school board seats, Craven filling the vacancy for a one year term.

Osceola Garden Club met at Rev. Melin's home with Dr. Lestar sharing photos and guidance on the White House flower gardens.
