Frederick W. McFadden of Osceola enlisted in January 1939, served at Ft Crook and Chanute Field, arrived in the Canal Zone in 1939, became Corporal in 1940 and was promoted to Staff Sergeant in May last year. He is currently stationed at Salinas Air Base in Ecuador, South America.

Car Thief Returned for Trial in Osceola
W. C. Mortensen, 35, who stole Chet Underhill’s car in Stromsburg, was brought back to Polk County for trial after completing a Minnesota sentence. He waived a preliminary hearing and requested a speedy trial, announcing a guilty plea. The stolen car was recovered near Cozad, Nebraska the day after the theft.

Community Rally Promotes 4-H Club Mobilization Week
A special effort in Polk County invites every boy and girl aged 10 to 20 to join 4-H clubs as part of National 4-H Club Mobilization Week. Ray L Cruise, County Extension Agent, urges youths to contact Cruise or the local club leaders.
