Erie Plans Overhead Crossing at Guymard Junction
The Public Service Commission ordered Erie Railroad to replace the Guymard grade crossing with an overhead bridge at the Erie and New Jersey lines, 1800 feet south of the present crossing. Hearings in Port Jervis featured Erie officials and Greenville Mount Hope area citizens opposing the change. The order mandates a steel overhead structure with a wooden floor and specified clearances, with petitioners paying all costs and provisions allowing relocation within three years if Mount Hope authorities request. One objection cited risk to horses near the tracks.
