Former Orange County Brownie Dropped From the Roll
Orange County inspectors who once operated in Syracuse district will be dropped from the rolls on April 1. Michael Lester is named. Since the year began the Brownies have only given tests for licenses and returned firearms, losing arrest powers. Sergaent Michael Marine and Inspector Béward P. Turin will stay in service. State department reorganizations shift duties to state troopers, expanding that force. Inspectors who pass exams may join the troopers, many having attended the Troy state police school and earned credits on civil service lists.
