Henry Reynolds, a drill tanner at the New Jersey Zinc Company's Franklin mines, was struck by a heavy rock slab. He remains in critical condition at Franklin Hospital with a fractured skull, broken arms, and shock after the accident on Monday. Reynolds, an Englishman who came from Michigan, has a wife and three children.

In an inquest before Justice Seeger and a Supreme Court jury at West Point, Lieut. Charles E. Morrison sued William Schwede for damages after Schwede’s auto brushed Morrison’s jumper Skyrocket, injuring the horse. Veterinarian Dr. James McConeghy testified the horse’s value fell from 300 to about 50. The jury awarded 250.

Nicaraguan battle leaves hundreds dead or wounded
In Chinandega, Nicaragua, Feb 1 government forces recaptured the city after a fierce assault. Reported casualties include about 150 dead on each side and around 600 wounded as rebels fled toward the mountains while government cavalry closed in. About 2,500 federals surrounded 800 rebels near the cuartel and overwhelmed them with machine guns bayonets and machetes.

H B Weeden of Sidney New York formerly of Middletown has been awarded a forty year continuous membership emblem by the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen. He is the fourth oldest in the O and W. service and has forty four years of service starting as a fireman in 1883 and becoming an engineer in 1889.
