Heavy rains drenched the South Platte region causing river overflows across towns including McCool Junction Sutton Hastings Pauline LeRoy and Oxford with rainfall totals from 1 to 4.5 inches. In Beatrice countywide flooding and a rising Blue River threatened roads and farms while a man required swimming to escape water on the Cornhusker Highway. Falls City reports a bridge washed out and Muddy Creek rising near five feet.

Lincoln Flooded by Heavy Rain
A downpour in Lincoln dropped about one and a quarter inches in 40 minutes, the worst flood since 1906. Basements flooded from South Lincoln to the outskirts, with a lake of about 50 acres south of the city. Cars floated on Seventh Street and curb water reached Burlington station, with Orpheum theater area incurring heavy damage estimated at 2000 to 3000 dollars. Other towns reported up to four inches of rain and statewide totals varied.

McDonald Farm Ships Choice Hogs to Omaha Market
William Fagan of Grand Island manager of the Kenneth McDonald farm delivered 211 head of choice hogs averaging 260 pounds to the Omaha market. The hogs sold for 10.30 a hundred, just 20 cents below the day’s top porker price. Most animals came from Mr. McDonald’s Nebraska and Wyoming ranches and the Grand Island farm serves as a finishing operation before shipment.
