Duck Breeds and Egg Laying Traits Compared
The Pekin breed is raised by green-duck producers and on Maury farms for market. Runner is a popular duck breed with good foraging, similar to Leghorn in chickens, producing white eggs larger than a hen’s. It is a small eater and hardy, boosting the market for high quality duck eggs when sold frequently.
Early hatching and profitable fowl keeping notes
Early hatching means greater profit and better grown chicks with a longer growing season. Adequate clean water supports healthy fowls and egg yields. A well fed cow produces more milk than a finicky one, but summer care is needed for flies and heat. Old cows sold cheaply are rarely a good dairyman investment.
