Mrs Rosanna Hayes a highly respected city resident died at her daughter Mrs Homer Wardlas home after a complication of diseases. Known as Grandma Hayes she was beloved for her Christian character kindness and steadfast faith, leaving a lasting imprint on the community.

Death of Rosanna Snyder Hayes Timed by Family Loss and Community Service

Rosanna Dorothy Snyder Hayes born January 30 1841 in Tuscarawas County Ohio died aged 78 in Indiana after moving from Ohio in 1865. Widowed since 1860 with ten children eight surviving, she devoted life to church activities and community service, notably as an Endeavor member in the United Brethren church.

Bechtel Bechtel Bechtel Elmer and Nora Martin wed in Elmore

Elmer Bechtel and Nora Martin, two well known young people of Elmore township, united in marriage last Friday at 2:00 p m at the home of Rev C H Buchanan. The bride, daughter of Dr Simeon Martin, and the groom, son of Frank Bechtel, will reside on a farm in Elmore. He served overseas in the war and spent over a month in the eastern trenches. The couple have the community's best wishes.

Mrs. Richard Burrell Dies at St Vincent Hospital

Mrs. R T Burrell, born 1863 in Bloomfield, died last Thursday at St Vincent's Hospital. Wife of Richard Burrell, she had five children, eight grandchildren, and survived by a sister and half brother. She belonged to Cumberland Presbyterian and later Broadway M E Church in Indianapolis. Funeral was held in Bloomfield with Rev Owen Pratt officiating. burial at Grandview Cemetery.

Pleasant Hill Circuit Hosts Birthday Reception for Pastor McMurtry

The Pleasant Hill circuit gathered at Mud Pike church on Tuesday to honor their new pastor Rev. McMurtry on his birthday anniversary. Members brought gifts, including about 30 chickens, apples, flour, lard, and canned fruit. After brief class addresses, the group shared ice cream and cake on the church lawn and wished him many happy returns.

Boy Scouts Plan Memorial Park With 75 Trees

The Boy Scouts of Troop No. 1 announce plans to plant a Roosevelt Memorial Park on the Old Settlers grounds South side. The project includes peccans chestnuts black walnuts and a variety grove funded by donations. Donors contribute 1.50 to 5.00 per tree with an estimated cost around 100. Contributions due by November 1st.

On October 4th Herschel Byrer and Lois Groves were married at her home by A. M. Williams. The bride, daughter of the late Luther Groves, is praised as an estimable young lady. The groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Byrer of Van Buren Township, is described as an enterprising farmer. They will reside on a Van Buren Township farm.
