Sermons reflect on Jesus as Deliverer and Savior with a five song service and Gospel solo. Weeknight sessions feature the Bread of Life to the True Vine and conclude with The Resurrection and the Life. Visitors welcomed by Mrs. Frank Boston and J. W. Godell.
A Kansas farmer sharing USDA comments says 25 percent better offspring come from purebred sires than grade stock. He credits uniform size and improved feeding quality in beef cattle, notes higher earnings with purebred horses and poultry, and praises calf clubs for engaging students in breeding and feeding education.
Sudan grass pasture is poorer for pigs than clover alfalfa or rape and requires more tankage. It is similar to blue grass and timothy as pig pasture. A good Sudan pasture supports about thirty pigs per acre but requires three pounds of corn and one third pound of tankage per pig daily for top results.
Instructions from E. J. Muag gard of the Animal Hestandrs Department advise preventing pig eating by exercise and good feeding. If a sow is confirmed to eat pigs, remove her. When conditions exist, use salt pork strips or paint pigs with a mucilage of tincture of trees and asufecuida. sows dislike this and will keep pigs away.
The Department of Agriculture data show 1922 produced less than one colt per fifteen horses on farms in the corn belt. Today one colt per nine or ten head of horses and mules is needed to satisfy urban and rural demand across the corn belt, eastern and southern states.
Shilo residents Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Resler spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. James Chestnut and Sam Raney and family. Mrs. James Overton, recently ill, is reported improved. Several local couples visited and hosted at households including Mrs. Lyddia Long, Mrs. N. S. Tighe, Miss Lula Long, and Clark Lamb. A Scotland guest, Mr. Chas. Isenogle, stayed with James Overton last week. Barkley’s Department Store advertises pew draperies and curtain materials.
Mrs Essie Johnson and son Dayton visited over Sunday with Wm Henderson and family. Ray Hasler spent Sunday with James Sinclair and family. Dewey Henderson Denver Hasler and Henry Nichols visited Wm Henderson's family. Tom Pruett spent Sunday with Delbert and Jessie Trueblood. Alma Henderson visited sister Mrs Lafe Kirk of Odon. Nora McFarland spent Sunday with Charley Simpson. Rebecca Hasier spent Sunday evening with Mr and Mrs Theodore Henderson. Rexall Store offers linen paper and envelopes at ten cents per 24 sheets and 24 envelopes while they last.
