Washington Statue by Houdon and the Ifs of History
The piece highlights Houdon’s lifelike George Washington statue in Virginia and in the Capitol Statuary Hall, noting Jefferson's commission and Madison's inscription. It also explores the alternate history of Washington as a British midshipman and argues his pivotal role in U.S. unity and leadership.
